Bloody Angola Podcast WINS Best History Podcast at People's Choice Podcast Awards

Bloody Angola Podcast WINS Best History Podcast at People's Choice Podcast Awards

Bloody Angola: A Podcast by Woody Overton and Jim Chapman had a big night taking home Best Podcast in the history category at the 18th Annual People's Choice Podcast Awards on Saturday September 30th, 2023 which was also National Podcast Day.

The People's Choice Podcast Awards is the longest running awards ceremony in the podcasting space with 2023 marking it's 18th year. The Podcast Awards is different than other award shows in the industry in that it solely relies on the votes of fans to choose the winner rather then a panel or board making that decision. This year the People's Choice Podcast Awards received 8.3 million votes for finalist, with 22,500 fans choosing the overall winner in each category.

Bloody Angola Podcast came out of the gate strong having made the finals in it's very first year and then winning the People's Choice Podcast Award as Best History Podcast.

Woody Overton and Jim Chapman both had great nights outside of that victory as well with Overton taking home awards as "Top Male Host" for Real Life Real Crime, Listener Influencer of the Year for Real Life Real Crime as well as the Adam Curry "People's Choice Award which is considered the highest honor among all awards in the industry. Adam Curry, a former MTV VJ is also known as the "Pod-father" having been widely recognized as the inventor of podcasting.

Jim Chapman took home his second People's Choice Podcast Award with Bloody Angola. In 2021 Chapman took home an award for top 10 finalist for his podcast Local Leaders.

He also serves as Executive Producer of Real Life Real Crime, Bloody Angola and  Unspeakable: A True Crime Podcast by Kelly Jennings which won Listener Influencer of the Year honors as well as top 10 finalist in the True Crime Category.
