Part One
In July 2017, the peaceful suburbs of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, were rocked by a string of disappearances that quickly turned into one of the most disturbing murder cases in recent American history. Over the course of just three days, four young men—Jimi Patrick, Dean Finocchiaro, Thomas Meo, and Mark Sturgis—vanished after heading out to what they believed were routine marijuana deals. They never came home. What they walked into was a nightmare orchestrated by 20-year-old Cosmo DiNardo and his cousin Sean Kratz.
Lured to the DiNardo family’s sprawling farm in Solebury Township, the victims were shot and killed in cold blood. Their bodies were buried on the property in a frantic attempt to hide the crimes.

9
00:01:32.200 --> 00:01:35.840
to Bloody Angola. I'm your host, Jim Chapman, and today

10
00:01:35.959 --> 00:01:40.560
I am bringing you another Fifty Shades of Evil series episode.

11
00:01:40.920 --> 00:01:44.200
I'm going to take you to Hucks County, Pennsylvania, and

12
00:01:44.239 --> 00:01:48.159
I'm going to tell you the story of Cosmo DeNardo,

13
00:01:48.400 --> 00:01:51.439
who in twenty eighteen was convicted in the murder of

14
00:01:51.519 --> 00:01:55.519
four young men inside of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, over a

15
00:01:55.760 --> 00:02:00.560
three day time period. Now, he lured them in order

16
00:02:00.640 --> 00:02:03.480
to kill them. And I'm not going to tell you

17
00:02:03.760 --> 00:02:06.400
right now how he did that. We'll get into it.

18
00:02:06.760 --> 00:02:11.280
But this case became nationally known as the Lost Boys

19
00:02:11.759 --> 00:02:16.000
of Huck County and it's absolutely shocking. And as I said,

20
00:02:16.000 --> 00:02:19.840
this one takes place in Hucks County, Pennsylvania, which is

21
00:02:19.919 --> 00:02:24.560
a beautiful part of Pennsylvania. It's bordered by the Delaware River.

22
00:02:25.000 --> 00:02:27.719
There are a bunch of parts there. It has a

23
00:02:27.840 --> 00:02:30.759
high population. As a matter of fact, six hundred and

24
00:02:30.759 --> 00:02:34.520
fifty thousand people called Bucks County home, and I can

25
00:02:34.560 --> 00:02:38.840
assure you in twenty seventeen, all six hundred and fifty

26
00:02:38.919 --> 00:02:43.080
thousand people were absolutely shocked when they discovered they had

27
00:02:43.120 --> 00:02:47.800
a killer amongst them. So what happened, how and why?

28
00:02:48.199 --> 00:02:50.319
That's what we're going to cover today, And I'm going

29
00:02:50.400 --> 00:02:55.120
to start by giving you the background on Cosmo DeNardo.

30
00:02:55.319 --> 00:02:59.599
He was born in nineteen ninety seven in Ben Salem, Pennsylvania,

31
00:03:00.120 --> 00:03:04.719
to Tony and Sandra DeNardo. He's actually the oldest of

32
00:03:04.919 --> 00:03:08.639
four children, and he was named after his paternal grandfather,

33
00:03:09.120 --> 00:03:12.840
who was a very successful real estate investor, and his

34
00:03:12.919 --> 00:03:17.759
family also owned a very thriving construction business. They had

35
00:03:17.840 --> 00:03:21.879
money and lots of it, and Cosmo was described by

36
00:03:21.960 --> 00:03:25.439
those who knew him as very polite and friendly. When

37
00:03:25.520 --> 00:03:27.120
he was a kid, he was the kind of kid

38
00:03:27.159 --> 00:03:31.199
that would grab your groceries or help you cross the street,

39
00:03:31.599 --> 00:03:34.639
and even at a young age, he was very active

40
00:03:34.680 --> 00:03:38.360
in his community. He even won a township award for

41
00:03:38.400 --> 00:03:42.360
his volunteer work rebuilding a church, and he was also

42
00:03:42.599 --> 00:03:46.840
active in sports at a young age, especially football. Though

43
00:03:46.879 --> 00:03:52.080
some childhood injuries would stop any aspirations of ever playing

44
00:03:52.120 --> 00:03:55.120
in the NFL or college football or anything like that.

45
00:03:55.319 --> 00:03:58.240
We're going to go to twenty eleven, and he's fourteen

46
00:03:58.360 --> 00:04:02.199
years old at this time, and Cosmo has his first

47
00:04:02.599 --> 00:04:07.039
documented run in, if you will, with police, when someone

48
00:04:07.159 --> 00:04:10.960
reported him riding his four wheeler on the street. Now,

49
00:04:11.000 --> 00:04:14.479
this guy loved to write his four wheeler, had always

50
00:04:14.520 --> 00:04:16.959
been interested in that. He kind of ram with people

51
00:04:17.319 --> 00:04:20.959
who enjoyed getting out there and riding four wheelers and

52
00:04:21.040 --> 00:04:24.600
doing motocross and all those sorts of things. And obviously

53
00:04:24.680 --> 00:04:29.360
that's a very minor offence. But the crazy thing is

54
00:04:29.639 --> 00:04:35.079
Cosmo would accumulate like thirty infractions or tickets over the

55
00:04:35.120 --> 00:04:41.040
next six years on this very same thing, riding four

56
00:04:41.120 --> 00:04:43.920
wheelers in the street. And to me, that just kind

57
00:04:43.920 --> 00:04:46.439
of speaks on he don't learn, and it speaks on

58
00:04:46.480 --> 00:04:48.879
the fact that he had a lot of money. Because

59
00:04:48.959 --> 00:04:50.680
if you don't have a lot of money or your

60
00:04:50.759 --> 00:04:53.959
family anyway, you're not going to pay thirty different tickets.

61
00:04:54.000 --> 00:04:57.439
It's just not going to happen. Now, in twenty fifteen,

62
00:04:57.800 --> 00:05:01.360
at the age of eighteen, he's he actually sworn in

63
00:05:01.519 --> 00:05:05.839
on a drug and alcohol advisory Board by the mayor

64
00:05:05.879 --> 00:05:08.560
of that city. I'm sure some of this had to

65
00:05:08.560 --> 00:05:11.199
do with the fact that his parents were very prominent

66
00:05:11.399 --> 00:05:15.439
in that area, in the Ben Salem Township area. But

67
00:05:15.839 --> 00:05:18.680
you'll find out later in this episode that that is

68
00:05:18.920 --> 00:05:23.399
very ironic that this guy was sworn into a drug

69
00:05:23.439 --> 00:05:28.040
and alcohol advisory board. Also, when he's eighteen, he graduates

70
00:05:28.160 --> 00:05:31.959
from Holy Ghost Prep School and he earns a scholarship.

71
00:05:32.079 --> 00:05:34.959
Dude was smart, there's no doubt about it. And he

72
00:05:35.000 --> 00:05:39.680
attended Arcadia University and at this time in his life

73
00:05:39.759 --> 00:05:43.800
he decides he wants to become an orthodonist. Now he

74
00:05:43.879 --> 00:05:48.240
only attends college for one semester. He had a girlfriend

75
00:05:48.360 --> 00:05:53.600
during that time and they break up, and honestly, Cosmo

76
00:05:53.800 --> 00:05:57.839
starts losing it mentally, and a lot of people around

77
00:05:57.920 --> 00:06:01.680
him they would say he started to have like this

78
00:06:02.000 --> 00:06:06.480
major personality shift in himself. He just was not the

79
00:06:06.560 --> 00:06:09.920
same guy anymore. And he's just eighteen years old during

80
00:06:09.959 --> 00:06:13.399
this breakup. Now we're gonna go to twenty sixteen, he

81
00:06:13.480 --> 00:06:19.160
turned nineteen years old and Cosmo Denardo's life just completely

82
00:06:19.240 --> 00:06:22.839
falls off the rails. In May of that year, he

83
00:06:22.879 --> 00:06:27.319
gets in a pretty serious ATV accident four wheeler accident

84
00:06:27.800 --> 00:06:31.680
where he breaks his leg in several spots. He also

85
00:06:31.920 --> 00:06:36.079
suffered some pretty major head trauma. He's so injured, in fact,

86
00:06:36.120 --> 00:06:39.560
he gets put in a hip to toe cast for

87
00:06:39.879 --> 00:06:44.519
like four months. Then in July of that year, Cosmo's

88
00:06:44.680 --> 00:06:52.480
mother has him involuntarily committed after several escalating events, including

89
00:06:52.879 --> 00:06:56.600
giving her a black eye his own mother, biting her arm,

90
00:06:56.759 --> 00:07:01.639
and attempting to jump into a stranger's call while claiming

91
00:07:02.000 --> 00:07:05.759
that he was kidnapped. Now, this would be the first

92
00:07:05.920 --> 00:07:10.560
of three times he would be institutionalized over a six

93
00:07:11.040 --> 00:07:15.120
month period. So we're gonna move on to July fifth

94
00:07:15.480 --> 00:07:19.399
of twenty seventeen, and we're gonna switch subjects as well,

95
00:07:19.439 --> 00:07:22.079
and I'm going to tell you about nineteen year old

96
00:07:22.439 --> 00:07:26.879
Jimmy Patrick. Now, Jimmy had plans, and he told his

97
00:07:27.120 --> 00:07:30.360
grandmother that he's going to go meet some friends at

98
00:07:30.519 --> 00:07:33.480
Chick fil A and he would not be too long.

99
00:07:33.600 --> 00:07:36.199
And he leaves the house on that day, the day

100
00:07:36.240 --> 00:07:40.519
after the fourth of July, hours pass and Jimmy does

101
00:07:40.600 --> 00:07:44.759
not return home. Now, typically, regardless of when he would

102
00:07:44.800 --> 00:07:48.639
come home, he would wake up his grandparents and let

103
00:07:48.680 --> 00:07:50.959
them know that he was back. Just the kind of

104
00:07:51.040 --> 00:07:54.319
kid that he was. He was very responsible, smart kid,

105
00:07:54.959 --> 00:07:59.439
but this particular night, nothing, He never woke them up.

106
00:07:59.639 --> 00:08:03.399
Assume he would. He didn't. Now, now, this was very

107
00:08:03.519 --> 00:08:07.439
unlike this guy. He worked full time, he went to college,

108
00:08:07.600 --> 00:08:11.480
he was good with his money, very responsible. No way,

109
00:08:11.600 --> 00:08:15.240
he's just gonna not show back up at home and

110
00:08:15.319 --> 00:08:18.920
not let his grandparents know where he's at. Now. Although

111
00:08:18.959 --> 00:08:23.160
he was so responsible and very well rounded, things were

112
00:08:23.199 --> 00:08:28.160
not always easy for Jimmy. His mom was diagnosed with

113
00:08:28.240 --> 00:08:32.399
schizophrenia well before he was born, and that's actually why

114
00:08:32.399 --> 00:08:35.879
his grandparents were taking care of him. They had actually

115
00:08:35.960 --> 00:08:39.440
taken care of him since he was just one day old,

116
00:08:40.080 --> 00:08:43.840
and they treated him as if he were their own son,

117
00:08:44.600 --> 00:08:49.159
and they were extremely worried. When they wake up the

118
00:08:49.159 --> 00:08:53.080
next day and he's not there, his grandmother, as a

119
00:08:53.080 --> 00:08:56.960
matter of fact, starts panicking. She's sending texts to him,

120
00:08:57.320 --> 00:09:01.840
where are you? Are you okay except because this was

121
00:09:01.960 --> 00:09:04.639
just so way out of the box for this kid.

122
00:09:04.720 --> 00:09:09.120
But nothing, no response, He never returns a text. So

123
00:09:09.240 --> 00:09:12.720
they call us good friends, and his good friends are like,

124
00:09:13.200 --> 00:09:17.159
he wasn't meeting us at Chick fil a. Everybody that

125
00:09:17.200 --> 00:09:20.480
they reached out to Nobody knew anything about meeting to

126
00:09:20.480 --> 00:09:22.759
hang out at Chick fil A. As a matter of fact,

127
00:09:22.879 --> 00:09:25.840
none had spoken to him since he had left his

128
00:09:26.000 --> 00:09:31.440
grandparents' house. So at noon that morning, the day after

129
00:09:31.480 --> 00:09:35.440
he went missing, they called police, but due to him

130
00:09:35.480 --> 00:09:38.360
not being missing for twenty four hours, the police say,

131
00:09:38.639 --> 00:09:40.600
they just kind of blew that off. I mean, this

132
00:09:40.679 --> 00:09:44.720
is a nineteen year old kid, there's probably he's probably fine.

133
00:09:45.840 --> 00:09:48.840
Let's wait until it's been at least twenty four hours,

134
00:09:48.879 --> 00:09:51.279
which would have been four o'clock PM. That was the

135
00:09:51.360 --> 00:09:54.200
last time that they saw him. So they agree to

136
00:09:54.240 --> 00:09:58.159
do that, and at four o'clock PM they call police again.

137
00:09:58.960 --> 00:10:02.360
A patrolman shows up at the house, takes a report,

138
00:10:02.519 --> 00:10:06.000
but you know, there's no urgency there. The police at

139
00:10:06.000 --> 00:10:09.480
this point, they're still thinking this guy is probably party

140
00:10:09.480 --> 00:10:12.600
two hard, maybe got drunk and stayed at somebody's house

141
00:10:12.600 --> 00:10:15.799
that they don't know of who knows he's a teenager.

142
00:10:15.840 --> 00:10:20.120
He's nineteen. They do, though, take his cell phone and

143
00:10:20.159 --> 00:10:22.559
say we're gonna run a ping on his cell phone,

144
00:10:22.600 --> 00:10:26.279
and then the officer leaves, and they do indeed trace

145
00:10:26.440 --> 00:10:29.840
that cell number to check the tower pins and the

146
00:10:29.919 --> 00:10:34.919
last ping that registered was about fifty miles away from

147
00:10:34.919 --> 00:10:38.679
his home. It was in a park in Delaware County.

148
00:10:38.799 --> 00:10:41.519
Now his phone was turned off by this point, but

149
00:10:41.639 --> 00:10:45.159
that was the last time that it was connecting to

150
00:10:45.279 --> 00:10:47.279
a tower. If that's a hell of a long way

151
00:10:47.279 --> 00:10:49.720
away from the Chick fil A that is like five

152
00:10:49.759 --> 00:10:53.320
miles from his house. Days go on, and by July

153
00:10:53.600 --> 00:10:58.080
eighth of twenty seventeen, some three days later, still no

154
00:10:58.360 --> 00:11:02.759
sign of Jimmy. His grandparents they know time is of

155
00:11:02.799 --> 00:11:05.879
the essence here and they don't wait too long before

156
00:11:05.919 --> 00:11:10.039
they hire their own private investigator to work this case,

157
00:11:10.600 --> 00:11:15.320
and he starts interviewing all of Jimmy's friends. The PI

158
00:11:15.519 --> 00:11:19.320
also discovers that another team is missing from the same county,

159
00:11:19.759 --> 00:11:24.480
nineteen year old Dean Finacaro, who went missing just two

160
00:11:24.559 --> 00:11:29.240
days after Jimmy, and so to investigators, they need to

161
00:11:29.279 --> 00:11:32.879
find out if these two cases could be related. The

162
00:11:32.919 --> 00:11:36.200
boys they kind of lived somewhat close to each other,

163
00:11:36.279 --> 00:11:38.639
but they were far enough away from each other that

164
00:11:38.679 --> 00:11:42.519
they graduated from different high schools and they actually had

165
00:11:42.639 --> 00:11:45.200
different friends that they ran with. They didn't have the

166
00:11:45.240 --> 00:11:49.759
same circle of friends. So in this case his parents Deans,

167
00:11:49.879 --> 00:11:53.679
they also have reported him missing, and police they did

168
00:11:53.759 --> 00:11:56.279
go by there to take a report and by the

169
00:11:56.360 --> 00:12:00.720
time they get there, all of his friends are there.

170
00:12:01.240 --> 00:12:05.200
Dean was very popular amongst his friends. But the problem

171
00:12:05.399 --> 00:12:08.879
was Dean he was kind of no stranger to police.

172
00:12:08.919 --> 00:12:11.399
He was kind of a hell raiser. But he had

173
00:12:11.600 --> 00:12:15.320
just gotten a new job and he appeared to be

174
00:12:15.399 --> 00:12:20.799
doing much better. But police they were still thinking, we've

175
00:12:20.799 --> 00:12:24.120
had run ins with this guy before, and this is

176
00:12:24.240 --> 00:12:28.000
probably some situation where he went missing and he's just

177
00:12:28.120 --> 00:12:31.639
partying somewhere, maybe doing a drug or two, and he's

178
00:12:31.679 --> 00:12:34.759
going to show up. Now. Police they are working these

179
00:12:34.799 --> 00:12:39.399
two missing team cases and it's in Bucks County and

180
00:12:39.480 --> 00:12:43.440
apparently Dean just disappeared off the face of the earth

181
00:12:43.879 --> 00:12:46.919
because he went to eat with his dad. He went

182
00:12:47.080 --> 00:12:50.200
back home, he told his dad, Hey, I'm going to

183
00:12:50.240 --> 00:12:54.679
be back in fifteen minutes. He leaves the house and

184
00:12:54.840 --> 00:12:58.200
just disappears. So his parents they tried to call and

185
00:12:58.279 --> 00:13:01.080
text him, but his cel phone was turned off. So

186
00:13:01.120 --> 00:13:04.879
his parents they actually do something really smart. They go

187
00:13:04.960 --> 00:13:08.360
on Facebook and they print out a list of all

188
00:13:08.519 --> 00:13:12.799
his friends in the area that had any contact with

189
00:13:12.879 --> 00:13:16.200
him on Facebook in like the past year, and they

190
00:13:16.240 --> 00:13:20.080
start crossing them off the list. As they talk to

191
00:13:20.200 --> 00:13:23.919
these friends and say, hey, have you seen our son. Now,

192
00:13:24.279 --> 00:13:28.320
there was one friend out of all of those that

193
00:13:28.399 --> 00:13:32.720
his parents nor police could get hold of, and he

194
00:13:32.840 --> 00:13:38.399
wasn't returning calls or messages either, and his name was

195
00:13:38.519 --> 00:13:43.919
Cosmo DeNardo. Now, apparently these two were friends who knew

196
00:13:43.919 --> 00:13:48.559
each other from a four wheeler writing community, and Dean's

197
00:13:48.639 --> 00:13:52.320
parents they had no idea who Cosmo was as a

198
00:13:52.320 --> 00:13:55.440
matter of fact, when they came across a name. I mean,

199
00:13:55.600 --> 00:13:59.799
Cosmo is a pretty memorable name, if you will. They

200
00:14:00.080 --> 00:14:02.919
had never heard that name come out of his mouth before.

201
00:14:03.320 --> 00:14:07.559
But they start digging into Cosmo police, and they discover

202
00:14:07.720 --> 00:14:10.960
that Cosmo, according to the people that knew him, was

203
00:14:11.039 --> 00:14:13.679
kind of crazy. It kind of went off the rails,

204
00:14:13.720 --> 00:14:17.120
as I told you earlier. So at this point police

205
00:14:17.279 --> 00:14:21.120
they do decide to do a ping search on Dean's phone.

206
00:14:21.240 --> 00:14:24.600
Now I can't tell you why they did not do

207
00:14:24.720 --> 00:14:27.320
this prior to this point. They do, in fact do

208
00:14:27.399 --> 00:14:30.720
a ping search on Dean's phone, even though it's turned

209
00:14:30.759 --> 00:14:34.279
off by that point, and police they do see when

210
00:14:34.279 --> 00:14:37.080
it was last us and they discover that it was

211
00:14:37.200 --> 00:14:42.600
last used in Bucks County, but they also discover it

212
00:14:42.679 --> 00:14:47.720
was on the same property owned by Cosmo Denardo's family,

213
00:14:47.840 --> 00:14:51.639
So all of this is moving faster than you may realize.

214
00:14:51.679 --> 00:14:57.639
On Wednesday, July fifth, Jimmy Patrick goes missing. Friday July seventh,

215
00:14:58.159 --> 00:15:04.919
Dean Finnacaru missing, and by Sunday, July ninth, police had

216
00:15:04.960 --> 00:15:10.159
peened Dean's last location to Cosmo Donardo's family property. So

217
00:15:10.240 --> 00:15:12.720
the next step is to go check out that property.

218
00:15:12.759 --> 00:15:15.679
They want to see if they can speak to Cosmo,

219
00:15:15.759 --> 00:15:18.600
maybe he's there. They go out there and it's the

220
00:15:18.600 --> 00:15:22.879
middle of the night, and this is an expansive property.

221
00:15:22.919 --> 00:15:26.919
It's over ninety acres and it's one of three large

222
00:15:27.000 --> 00:15:31.519
properties that the Donardo family owns. Remember they're very wealthy.

223
00:15:31.840 --> 00:15:36.080
As they drive through this whiming property, they come upon

224
00:15:36.480 --> 00:15:40.600
a very dilapidating home and I'm talking like a haunted

225
00:15:40.720 --> 00:15:44.399
house looking house. And it's the middle of the night,

226
00:15:44.480 --> 00:15:47.080
it's like one o'clock in the morning when they do this.

227
00:15:47.519 --> 00:15:52.799
In this house is obviously abandoned. I'm talking cobwebs on

228
00:15:52.879 --> 00:15:57.440
the doors and everything, and they notice a detached shed.

229
00:15:57.799 --> 00:16:00.120
So they pull up and they go to the door

230
00:16:00.200 --> 00:16:02.360
this home and they kind of look in the windows,

231
00:16:02.440 --> 00:16:04.559
and it's the middle of the night. You can barely

232
00:16:04.600 --> 00:16:07.960
see anything the windows. They have all that grime on them,

233
00:16:08.000 --> 00:16:11.399
so it's like looking through glasses that are fogged up, right,

234
00:16:11.879 --> 00:16:14.639
But they don't see anything. So they leave. Now at

235
00:16:14.639 --> 00:16:17.440
this time, it's like three o'clock in the morning. The

236
00:16:17.559 --> 00:16:21.519
two detectives involved, they go their separate ways because one

237
00:16:21.519 --> 00:16:24.480
of them was actually from a neighboring county. But the

238
00:16:24.559 --> 00:16:29.559
detective from Bucks County, as he's driving by himself after

239
00:16:29.600 --> 00:16:32.919
they part ways, him and this other detective, it's just

240
00:16:33.000 --> 00:16:36.679
kind of eating at him. He can't get that property

241
00:16:36.879 --> 00:16:39.159
out of his mind. He feels like, you know, we

242
00:16:39.200 --> 00:16:44.759
didn't really look around enough. So he goes back by himself,

243
00:16:44.799 --> 00:16:47.159
and by this point it's like three point fifteen in

244
00:16:47.200 --> 00:16:50.240
the morning. But rather than check the house again, he decides,

245
00:16:50.320 --> 00:16:52.120
I want to see if I can sing inside of

246
00:16:52.120 --> 00:16:56.039
that detached shed. So he goes to that detached shed

247
00:16:56.480 --> 00:16:59.200
and he kind of cracks open the door of this

248
00:16:59.240 --> 00:17:02.279
shed and it's one of those metal sliding doors, and

249
00:17:02.320 --> 00:17:04.839
he cracks it open just a little bit and he

250
00:17:05.000 --> 00:17:10.279
peers inside and he sees a vehicle inside of this shed,

251
00:17:10.839 --> 00:17:15.000
which this vehicle was way out of place when you

252
00:17:15.079 --> 00:17:17.920
compare it to the rest of this property. I mean,

253
00:17:17.960 --> 00:17:21.880
you got a haunted house basically, but a vehicle in

254
00:17:21.880 --> 00:17:25.279
his shed that looked to be in great shape. It

255
00:17:25.319 --> 00:17:30.880
was relatively new, it was obviously recently driven. And he

256
00:17:31.359 --> 00:17:35.079
peers in and it's kind of just shoveled on the inside,

257
00:17:35.839 --> 00:17:38.200
but nothing stood out to him. He was kind of

258
00:17:38.240 --> 00:17:41.599
looking inside the car windows to see, I mean, is

259
00:17:41.640 --> 00:17:44.720
there a body in here? Do I see blood droplets?

260
00:17:44.839 --> 00:17:47.480
Nothing stands out. There's just a bunch of clothes in

261
00:17:47.519 --> 00:17:50.480
the back seat, but he could tell there wasn't anything

262
00:17:50.559 --> 00:17:53.680
underneath those clothes. He then kind of looks at the

263
00:17:53.759 --> 00:17:59.400
ground and he notices really fresh track marks tire track marts,

264
00:17:59.480 --> 00:18:04.519
which told him whoever was there he must have just

265
00:18:04.720 --> 00:18:06.920
missed them. So then he goes to the rear of

266
00:18:06.920 --> 00:18:09.680
the vehicle and he calls in the plate through his

267
00:18:09.799 --> 00:18:14.400
CB and it comes back to twenty year old Thomas Mayo.

268
00:18:14.720 --> 00:18:18.079
This went out over the police CB system, and so

269
00:18:18.319 --> 00:18:21.319
all the other cops on duty, they're going to hear this,

270
00:18:21.960 --> 00:18:26.400
and no sooner does dispatch relay the information that that

271
00:18:26.559 --> 00:18:31.720
plate is registered to Thomas Mayo than does another officer

272
00:18:31.920 --> 00:18:36.000
key up on that CB and he overhears this and

273
00:18:36.039 --> 00:18:40.160
he says, hey, man, that guy's mom was at the

274
00:18:40.240 --> 00:18:45.599
station today to report him missing. Holy smokes, now we

275
00:18:45.720 --> 00:18:50.559
got three. So at this point, obviously detectives really want

276
00:18:50.599 --> 00:18:54.079
to talk to Cosmo. The detective that went back to

277
00:18:54.200 --> 00:18:57.279
the scene and checked out that shed, he contacts the

278
00:18:57.319 --> 00:19:02.000
detective from the other jurisdiction and and basically fills her

279
00:19:02.039 --> 00:19:05.720
in on all this information, and as soon as daylight hits,

280
00:19:05.880 --> 00:19:08.920
she says, I got to talk to the Donardo family.

281
00:19:09.319 --> 00:19:12.960
So she heads out to the primary residence, which is

282
00:19:13.000 --> 00:19:16.119
in Bucks County and Ben Salem, and she goes and

283
00:19:16.160 --> 00:19:19.359
she knocks on the door of the primary residence and

284
00:19:19.559 --> 00:19:25.000
Cosmo's mother actually answers the door. The detective tells mom

285
00:19:25.240 --> 00:19:28.519
what was up and says, we really need to talk

286
00:19:28.559 --> 00:19:34.680
to Cosmo. There's now three missing teens and he's kind

287
00:19:34.720 --> 00:19:37.559
of getting tied into being the last person we think

288
00:19:37.599 --> 00:19:39.880
to have seen them. But she didn't want to give

289
00:19:39.920 --> 00:19:42.559
the mom too much information. She didn't want to spooker

290
00:19:43.079 --> 00:19:46.960
and this lady lawyer up or something. So she's basically

291
00:19:47.519 --> 00:19:50.079
framing this, if you will, as if they just want

292
00:19:50.119 --> 00:19:52.640
to talk to Cosmo and find out if he knows

293
00:19:52.720 --> 00:19:56.799
anything about where these guys could be. And the mom says, well,

294
00:19:56.920 --> 00:19:59.640
he's not going to be back till later, and I

295
00:19:59.640 --> 00:20:01.839
don't have anybody get in touch with him. He doesn't

296
00:20:01.839 --> 00:20:05.160
have a cell on him whatever. And the detective leaves.

297
00:20:05.160 --> 00:20:08.279
But the detective could tell mom was kind of trying

298
00:20:08.319 --> 00:20:12.440
to protect Cosmo a little bit. Maybe she suspected something

299
00:20:12.559 --> 00:20:16.319
meaning the mom. So this female detective leaves and she

300
00:20:16.519 --> 00:20:20.200
starts calling other departments and she's wanting to find out

301
00:20:20.279 --> 00:20:24.160
as much information as she can on Cosmo. And it's

302
00:20:24.440 --> 00:20:29.000
through that that she discovers yet another boy is missing,

303
00:20:29.680 --> 00:20:34.000
twenty two year old Mark Sturgis. Now there are four

304
00:20:34.039 --> 00:20:37.680
people missing in just a short time period. You have

305
00:20:37.799 --> 00:20:42.680
boys missing from two different jurisdictions, and police they decide

306
00:20:42.680 --> 00:20:45.319
to form a task force and this way they can

307
00:20:45.319 --> 00:20:49.359
share information and really hit it hard trying to connect everyone.

308
00:20:50.039 --> 00:20:54.920
And they learn that Mark Sturgis and Thomas Mayo they

309
00:20:54.960 --> 00:20:58.799
were actually best friends and they were last seen together

310
00:20:59.000 --> 00:21:03.960
on Friday, July seventh, which is the same night that

311
00:21:04.200 --> 00:21:08.880
Dean disappeared. So police they say, we need to get

312
00:21:08.880 --> 00:21:12.720
a warrant and we need to search Tom's car, which

313
00:21:12.839 --> 00:21:17.359
was found on that dilapidated property that the DiNardo's own.

314
00:21:17.559 --> 00:21:20.440
So they do that, they get a judge, he signs

315
00:21:20.559 --> 00:21:23.359
us warrant and they go back to the car and

316
00:21:23.400 --> 00:21:26.720
the car was unlocked. There was no signs of a

317
00:21:26.880 --> 00:21:30.720
crime inside of this car, no blood that they could

318
00:21:30.720 --> 00:21:34.680
see or anything, but the title was pulled out and

319
00:21:34.920 --> 00:21:37.440
they kind of made note of that because that was weird.

320
00:21:37.519 --> 00:21:40.519
Why is that pulled out and sitting on the car seat.

321
00:21:40.680 --> 00:21:44.160
And they also found the keys away from the car,

322
00:21:44.799 --> 00:21:48.279
like on a counter inside of that detached shit. And

323
00:21:48.319 --> 00:21:50.960
they also noticed something else that was really key in

324
00:21:51.039 --> 00:21:54.960
this investigation, and that was Tom was a diabetic and

325
00:21:55.039 --> 00:21:59.279
his diabetic kit was still inside of the vehicle. Now,

326
00:22:00.039 --> 00:22:02.359
if you're a diabetic or you know someone that is,

327
00:22:02.799 --> 00:22:07.720
you also know they don't go missing without their insulin.

328
00:22:07.920 --> 00:22:11.279
If it was an intentional thing, they don't leave their

329
00:22:11.279 --> 00:22:15.200
insulin inside of a car. And it also put a

330
00:22:15.640 --> 00:22:19.640
time crunch, a major time crunch on this case, because

331
00:22:19.920 --> 00:22:23.240
that's really dangerous when diabetics don't have their insulin. So

332
00:22:23.359 --> 00:22:27.119
police knew at this point, hey, this guy is missing

333
00:22:27.440 --> 00:22:30.039
and it is not of his own free will. Police

334
00:22:30.079 --> 00:22:35.680
would also link Jimmy, the first missing boy, to Cosmo DiNardo.

335
00:22:36.039 --> 00:22:40.319
They found out that Cosmo and Jimmy had went to

336
00:22:40.400 --> 00:22:44.799
high school together. Cosmo was a grade above Jimmy. They

337
00:22:44.839 --> 00:22:49.039
would have known each other. So Dean's parents at this point,

338
00:22:49.599 --> 00:22:52.119
one of the other missing teens, they're trying to figure

339
00:22:52.119 --> 00:22:55.400
out who may have picked their son up from the

340
00:22:55.440 --> 00:22:58.839
house because he didn't drive. Someone picked him up, and

341
00:22:58.880 --> 00:23:02.160
so his mother she it's a great idea, she says,

342
00:23:02.279 --> 00:23:06.880
I'm gonna drive around the neighborhood. Now, they the Dean family,

343
00:23:07.319 --> 00:23:11.319
they didn't have cameras around their house, but she figured

344
00:23:11.559 --> 00:23:14.880
other people might possibly have cameras. So mom gets an

345
00:23:14.920 --> 00:23:18.440
idea to drive through the neighborhood and see if any

346
00:23:18.519 --> 00:23:22.640
neighbors had surveillance cameras on their home. And she does

347
00:23:22.839 --> 00:23:26.039
find a guy up the street and they check his

348
00:23:26.160 --> 00:23:31.440
camera footage and guess what, at the exact time that

349
00:23:31.680 --> 00:23:38.880
Dean disappeared, there's Cosmo's silver pickup truck leaving the neighborhood.

350
00:23:39.480 --> 00:23:43.480
How about that video evidence. So they go back to

351
00:23:43.599 --> 00:23:48.039
the Donardo's house and this time they arrange a voluntary

352
00:23:48.160 --> 00:23:53.119
meeting with police, and police, look, they have no proof

353
00:23:53.359 --> 00:23:56.680
that a crime had been committed at this point, they

354
00:23:56.799 --> 00:23:59.880
just got a bunch of missing boys between the ages

355
00:24:00.079 --> 00:24:03.200
of nineteen and twenty two, so they have to tread

356
00:24:03.559 --> 00:24:07.720
very lightly to keep Cosmo from getting a lawyer. So

357
00:24:07.799 --> 00:24:11.799
they did question Cosmo and he says he has no

358
00:24:11.920 --> 00:24:16.279
idea where these boys are. Now. He does admit that

359
00:24:16.400 --> 00:24:20.160
he was with Dean on that Friday, but he said

360
00:24:20.200 --> 00:24:23.640
they got into an argument and he kicked Dean out

361
00:24:23.640 --> 00:24:26.079
of his truck and left him on the side of

362
00:24:26.160 --> 00:24:29.359
the road. He said he went fishing at that point

363
00:24:29.440 --> 00:24:33.559
at a local park until nine pm that night. So

364
00:24:34.039 --> 00:24:37.319
investigators now they know that Cosmo is full of shit,

365
00:24:37.839 --> 00:24:40.640
but they have nothing to hold him on. They don't

366
00:24:40.680 --> 00:24:44.200
have any physical evidence at all. And the fact that

367
00:24:44.319 --> 00:24:47.279
he did admit he was with Dean kind of the

368
00:24:47.480 --> 00:24:51.680
gates that footage if they had on video. So they

369
00:24:51.759 --> 00:24:54.000
have to cut him loose and that's what they do,

370
00:24:54.160 --> 00:24:57.079
and they know, hey, we need to get some hard

371
00:24:57.240 --> 00:25:01.000
evidence here. So they turned to the media and they

372
00:25:01.079 --> 00:25:05.759
start telling the media, Hey, we've got four missing boys

373
00:25:06.319 --> 00:25:11.799
over the last three days, and this sumb bitch goes national.

374
00:25:12.039 --> 00:25:15.920
Everyone is talking about it. The whole country was asking

375
00:25:16.079 --> 00:25:19.839
what the hell happened to the Lost Boys of Bucks County.

376
00:25:20.119 --> 00:25:24.839
But police they were closer to getting this answer than

377
00:25:25.039 --> 00:25:29.640
even they realized. So, as you may imagine, when this

378
00:25:29.799 --> 00:25:33.400
thing goes public, there is a lot of fear. Even

379
00:25:33.519 --> 00:25:36.480
the eighteen to twenty five year old crowd, they didn't

380
00:25:36.519 --> 00:25:39.160
want to go out in public. And it was also

381
00:25:39.480 --> 00:25:45.160
leaking out that Cosmo DeNardo was possibly considered a suspect.

382
00:25:45.279 --> 00:25:49.240
Now once his name gets out, the media goes into

383
00:25:49.440 --> 00:25:53.960
absolute overdrive and they discover everything I just told you

384
00:25:54.000 --> 00:25:57.400
about at the start of this one, how he had

385
00:25:57.440 --> 00:26:03.000
turned aggressive toward his family, his commitments to psychiatric hospitals,

386
00:26:03.359 --> 00:26:06.920
all the things. The media also uncovered the fact that

387
00:26:07.079 --> 00:26:11.759
with most of Cosmo's run ends with police, he had

388
00:26:11.839 --> 00:26:15.799
never had repercussions. In the media, of course, would relate

389
00:26:15.920 --> 00:26:19.440
this to the fact that the Cosmo family was so

390
00:26:19.759 --> 00:26:23.119
prominent in that area. So there was a local media

391
00:26:23.200 --> 00:26:26.720
guy and he was the same age as Cosmo, and

392
00:26:26.799 --> 00:26:29.920
he really started digging, and he had kind of an

393
00:26:29.960 --> 00:26:34.039
advantage over even the national media because he knew the

394
00:26:34.119 --> 00:26:37.880
people involved in this story and he was the same age,

395
00:26:37.920 --> 00:26:41.000
and he was just more trusted if he will, and

396
00:26:41.119 --> 00:26:44.160
people were sending this kid tips. One of the tips

397
00:26:44.200 --> 00:26:48.160
he received was from a group chat on Snapchat and

398
00:26:48.200 --> 00:26:51.480
it showed a picture of Cosmo. And in this picture

399
00:26:51.759 --> 00:26:55.519
he has some freaking wild, crazy eyes and he is

400
00:26:55.720 --> 00:27:01.599
brandishing a gun and that would raise a lot of flags. Now,

401
00:27:02.039 --> 00:27:06.440
in the meantime, police they start trying to piece together

402
00:27:06.720 --> 00:27:11.720
Cosmo's movements during the times that these boys went missing,

403
00:27:12.319 --> 00:27:17.000
and they turned to LPRs, which are license plate readers

404
00:27:17.400 --> 00:27:22.200
to do that. Now it's with that technology they discover

405
00:27:22.319 --> 00:27:26.359
that Cosmo was in the area where both Mark Sturgis

406
00:27:26.400 --> 00:27:30.759
and Thomas Mayo went missing. And remember he had said

407
00:27:30.839 --> 00:27:35.079
he was fishing during some of these times that he

408
00:27:35.200 --> 00:27:38.519
was caught on license plate readers, so he was lying.

409
00:27:38.680 --> 00:27:41.839
You only lie when you're doing something wrong, right, the

410
00:27:41.960 --> 00:27:46.359
truth never changes. Not only that, but police also discovered

411
00:27:46.480 --> 00:27:50.200
Cosmo was trying to sell a vehicle on social media

412
00:27:50.720 --> 00:27:55.920
that was consistent with that of Thomas Mayo's vehicle, and

413
00:27:55.960 --> 00:27:59.920
that would explain that title that was found in Thomas

414
00:28:00.279 --> 00:28:03.839
Mayo's vehicle when police searched it. Why there was a

415
00:28:03.880 --> 00:28:07.359
title sitting on the front seat of Mayo's car in

416
00:28:07.400 --> 00:28:11.160
that it had shed on the Donardo property. You see

417
00:28:11.200 --> 00:28:13.920
how all this is lining up, so police know one thing.

418
00:28:13.920 --> 00:28:16.880
At this point, they have to figure out a way

419
00:28:17.000 --> 00:28:21.880
to arrest Cosmo for something before either a someone else

420
00:28:21.920 --> 00:28:26.319
goes missing or b Cosmo goes on the run. So

421
00:28:26.480 --> 00:28:30.519
the DA he does something pretty smart in this situation.

422
00:28:30.839 --> 00:28:34.920
He knew that Cosmo had been committed to a mental hospital,

423
00:28:35.240 --> 00:28:38.960
and he also knew that the laws in Pennsylvania say,

424
00:28:38.960 --> 00:28:42.160
if you've been committed, there's a certain amount of time

425
00:28:42.279 --> 00:28:45.359
I don't know the exact number of years that you're

426
00:28:45.400 --> 00:28:50.279
not allowed to possess a weapon. And these committings to

427
00:28:50.319 --> 00:28:53.599
a mental hospital took place within like a year, the

428
00:28:53.720 --> 00:28:58.680
year prior to all this going down. So this district

429
00:28:58.759 --> 00:29:02.799
attorney said, why don't we surveil him because they knew

430
00:29:03.160 --> 00:29:06.240
he carried a shotgun on him in his vehicle a

431
00:29:06.279 --> 00:29:09.759
lot of times. So they surveiled him and they pull

432
00:29:09.839 --> 00:29:12.759
him over one day knowing he had a shotgun in

433
00:29:12.799 --> 00:29:17.319
his vehicle, and they make an arrest after surveiling him,

434
00:29:18.000 --> 00:29:20.240
and that's enough to put him in jail, and they

435
00:29:20.359 --> 00:29:23.519
set like a very high bail amount because you got

436
00:29:23.519 --> 00:29:26.559
to remember Cosmo's family, they got a ton of money,

437
00:29:26.640 --> 00:29:30.200
so he had kind of an excessively high bail amount.

438
00:29:30.200 --> 00:29:32.279
But the judge and the DA and all that, they're

439
00:29:32.319 --> 00:29:34.400
doing what they have to do to try to keep

440
00:29:34.400 --> 00:29:38.319
this guy in jail while they gather evidence. So while

441
00:29:38.359 --> 00:29:41.759
he's in jail, due to all this circumstantial evidence, they

442
00:29:41.839 --> 00:29:45.880
also are able to secure a warrant to search that

443
00:29:46.359 --> 00:29:50.640
entire ninety acre property. And it's during this search if

444
00:29:50.680 --> 00:29:53.799
they come across an old barn on that property and

445
00:29:54.200 --> 00:29:58.960
a key piece of physical evidence blood droplets, they collect

446
00:29:59.000 --> 00:30:02.359
it to be but at the time, look, this is

447
00:30:02.359 --> 00:30:04.960
gonna take a while for that test to come back.

448
00:30:05.119 --> 00:30:07.400
And it wasn't a ton of blood. It could have

449
00:30:07.440 --> 00:30:11.599
been anybody's blood. This was an old born but they

450
00:30:11.599 --> 00:30:15.200
did find something. Now, this entire property, as I said,

451
00:30:15.480 --> 00:30:20.079
ninety acres, it's gonna take weeks, if not longer, to

452
00:30:20.240 --> 00:30:23.880
search this property properly. And in the midst of this search,

453
00:30:24.559 --> 00:30:32.559
something truly unbelievable happens. The dad of Dean Finacaro gets

454
00:30:32.759 --> 00:30:36.599
an alert on his cell phone from Verizon, and that

455
00:30:36.720 --> 00:30:41.599
alert stated there was a number which was Dean's number. Incidentally,

456
00:30:42.039 --> 00:30:46.599
that just tried to dial nine one one. Holy smokes.

457
00:30:47.079 --> 00:30:52.119
Imagine being Dean's dad at that very moment. Could it

458
00:30:52.200 --> 00:30:56.640
be possible that Dean was alive? Could it be possible

459
00:30:57.119 --> 00:31:01.839
that Dean was hurt and calling for hell Sadean's father

460
00:31:02.160 --> 00:31:06.160
he jumps up and he calls the investigating team and

461
00:31:06.200 --> 00:31:10.599
he says, you're not gonna believe this, but Dean just

462
00:31:10.680 --> 00:31:15.000
called my phone. But sadly, police let him know that

463
00:31:15.160 --> 00:31:20.240
wasn't Dean, that was us. We found a phone on

464
00:31:20.279 --> 00:31:24.319
this ninety acre property and we dialed nine one one

465
00:31:24.599 --> 00:31:28.160
so the operator would tell us who the phone belonged to,

466
00:31:28.319 --> 00:31:30.519
because when you dial nine one one, it'll show the

467
00:31:30.680 --> 00:31:35.839
name of the person that that number belongs to. Now,

468
00:31:36.200 --> 00:31:38.720
it was a good thing that they found evidence on

469
00:31:38.759 --> 00:31:42.920
the property, and that was interesting. It was found on

470
00:31:43.000 --> 00:31:45.960
the ninety acre property that they were searching. But that

471
00:31:46.000 --> 00:31:49.920
wouldn't be the only thing that police would find on

472
00:31:49.960 --> 00:31:53.400
that ninety acre property, not even close. And I'm going

473
00:31:53.480 --> 00:31:55.799
to go ahead and close this when out and next

474
00:31:55.839 --> 00:32:01.079
week we will wrap up this particular part series of

475
00:32:01.240 --> 00:32:06.680

to offer my prayers and thoughts to all of those involved, family, friends,

481
00:32:27.960 --> 00:32:32.680
people that knew anyone that was injured. Sadly, a seventeen

482
00:32:32.720 --> 00:32:35.799
year old girl killed here in my home state of

483
00:32:36.200 --> 00:32:41.000
Louisiana at the Mall of Louisiana and Baton Rouge during

484
00:32:41.079 --> 00:32:45.839
the recent shooting incident that they had their mass shooting incident.

485
00:32:46.000 --> 00:32:50.640
Six people shot, just terrific and one particular person they're

486
00:32:50.680 --> 00:32:54.200
still looking for. So I am praying that they find

487
00:32:54.359 --> 00:32:59.440
that person soon. Thoughts and prayers to everyone involved in that.

488
00:33:00.000 --> 00:33:02.599
Well next time, I'm your host of Bloody and go

489
00:33:02.720 --> 00:33:05.279
with Jim Chapman. But love.

490
00:33:20.759 --> 00:33:31.279

calling my name. There is no mercy and it's been

492
00:33:37.960 --> 00:33:45.799
